YouTube – Sports Illustrated – Tablet Demo 1.5.

Is this the first look at the new Apple tablet?!?!? We all have been hearing a lot about what the new “device” will be from Apple and how it will take over the print industry the way it has with the music (and some degree the movie) industry.

This does look very, very interesting and from this demo it would appear to have a lot of the “features” we have all come to know from the iPhone and Touch.

Is this the new device… we’ll have to wait and see.

If it is, take another look at the demo and ask yourself what does it mean for education?

While I have been hoping for a tablet device from Apple for a while, particularly as my school is about to launch a school-wide 1:1 Learning Initiative (notice is not a 1:1 Laptop Initiative – it’s about the learning not the device… remember that) it will need to do many of the things that our current Macbooks are doing and this would appear to have a different focus.

We will not be able to abandon the ability to do multimedia projects (videos & podcast) to take notes, collaborate and share. Will this be able to do that? Again, we need to wait and see.
